Mayor Reilly said he was delighted that the Spiegeltent (Tent of Mirrors), which is built with over 3,000 pieces of wood, canvas, mirrors and stained glass and is a regular focal point at international festivals across the world, was confirmed for the Festival in Londonderry on April 22-27.

“The Pan Celtic Festival is a key element of the city’s Music City 2014 calendar that is being supported by Derry City Council and is expected to be a huge event for the city attracting exceptional music acts from the Celtic nations of Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Cornwall, Brittany and the Isle of Man.

“I am delighted that the Spiegeltent has been confirmed for the festival to generate a special buzz and atmosphere across the city,” he said.

The original Spiegeltents were constructed in the Flemish Region of Belgium in the late 19th century as mobile dance halls. They were transported around the country and assembled for town fairs in areas that did not have a proper dance hall.
