No kerb crawlers booked

THERE is no record of anyone being convicted for ‘kerb crawling’ in Northern Ireland since it became an offence in 2009.

Justice Minister David Ford was asked how many successful prosecutions there had been for the crime.

Mr Ford replied: “Kerb crawling may be prosecuted under Article 60 of the Sexual Offences (Northern Ireland) Order 2008.

“This act came into effect on 2nd February 2009 and data shows there were no convictions for kerb crawling in 2009, the latest year for which data is available.”

He explained that information is collated on a “principal offence rule” and that only the most serious offence for which an offender is convicted is included.
