Paedophile lie testsconsidered

JUSTICE Minister David Ford will consider using lie detector tests to monitor paedophiles, rapists and flashers released into the community from jail.

Lord Morrow asked the Minister if he would introduce mandatory polygraph tests for sex offenders following pilot schemes in England and Wales.

Mr Ford replied: “Mandatory polygraph tests have only happened as pilot projects in two regions of England.

“My Department keeps arrangements to manage the risk posed by sex offenders in the community under review, and I will want to consider the research commissioned by the Ministry of Justice, following the pilots.”
