Physics graduate is new Archdeacon

THE Church of Ireland has appointed a gifted Oxford educated physics graduate as Archdeacon of Raphoe.

Bishop Ken Good announced Rev David Huss’ appointment at a meeting of the Diocesan Council on Wednesday (September 10).

The Church of Ireland describes this senior leadership role as “assisting the bishop in the bishop’s pastoral care and office” within their diocese. David Huss is Rector of Donegal, Killymard, Lough Eske and Laghey and will continue in that post as well.

Prior to Ordination he studied Physics and taught for five years. His wife Beverly is a GP in Donegal and they have three young boys.

He said he felt “honoured and excited about the prospect of this new role within the diocese,” adding: “I am looking forward to serving the diocese and assisting Bishop Good in any way I can.”

Bishop Good said “David Huss is a gifted academic with First Class Honours degrees from Oxford University in physics and theology. He is a deeply committed pastor in his parishes. As a diocesan team we are looking forward to the contribution he is going to make in fulfilling our purpose, Transforming Community Radiating Christ.”
