POLICE in Londonderry are investigating reports of gunfire in Currynierin on Thursday (August 15).

The Sentinel received unconfirmed reports of shotgun fire and hatchets wielded in the suburb. Police confirmed to the paper there were reports of a firearm having been discharged in the Currynieran area. Police are currently investigating.
