Policing partnershiplooking into IrishStreet centre claims

THE Londonderry’s community safety partnership has not received any complaints over noise and litter problems at the new Shared Future Centre in Irish Street.

One resident complained to the paper about noise/littering nuisance, which he claimed centred on the Shared Future centre. He complained of screeching of tyres and littering. All of this, he claimed, occurred on Saturday (April 27) but has been ongoing.

A spokesperson for the partnership said no formal complaint has been received but the matter has been looked into. The PSNI has on a number of occasions attended the area to deal with issues relating to young people driving erratically while littering in the area is an ongoing problem which the Council are aware of and have taken steps to address. The spokesperson encouraged the member of the public to contact them directly in relation to the alleged issues so it can be investigated and reviewed.
