£430k ClarendonStreet boost

Environment Minister Mark H Durkan has welcomed funding of £430k to upgrade the public realm in the Clarendon Street Conservation Area.

Mark H Durkan said: “I welcome this funding to significantly improve this conservation area while retaining its historic streetlights.

“This compliments the £500k investment that my Department made to tackle dereliction in the City last year as well as our ongoing investment in listed buildings.

“Already we have pumped in £1.6m on our built heritage which is transforming 16 key historic buildings with many more in the pipeline.

“This includes the former Reformed Presbyterian Church in the heart of Clarendon Street.

“We are also working in the area to secure the future of the former Second Presbyterian Church (The Glasshouse).”
