PSNI believe attackon Fountain carwas sectarian

A gang of eight men in dark hoodies damaged a car in the Fountain estate in Londonderry in the early hours of Easter Tuesday (April 22) in what is being treated by the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) as a sectarian hate crime.

A PSNI spokesperson said that at about 2.30am on Tuesday (April 22) a group of about eight men in dark hoodies attacked a black Peugeot 206 vehilce that was ‘parked up’ in the estate.

When the group were challenged, the PSNI spokesperson said, the men shouted sectarian abuse at the challenger and made off in the direction of Artillery Street.

The PSNI is asking anyone with information about the incident to contact the police on the 101 non-emergency number.

Alternatively, information can be given to the Crimestoppers charity completely anonymously on the telephone number 0800 555 111.
