THE PSNI expect traffic to be chock-a-block during the final weekend of Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann and is also warning people staying at campsites in Prehen and Campsie to take care when travelling to and from town.

PSNI Inspector Steve Haslett explained: “We would strongly encourage everyone to make use of the public transport and Park & Ride facilities available across the city.

“Increased traffic should be expected in and around the city, especially during the latter part of the week.

“For those using the campsites please make use of public transport and taxis to get you in and out of the city centre but if you choose to go on foot please cross busy roads at a safe place.

“For those staying at Prehen campsite please bear in mind that the Victoria Road is a busy route and if you are walking late at night please stick to the footpaths where possible and ensure you can be seen by other road users.”

Inspector Haslett added: “Traffic patrol officers will be paying attention to the main routes on both sides of the border in partnership with our colleagues in An Garda Siochana with a particular focus on speed and drink drivers.”
