Sailor memorial inplace for unveiling
A NEW memorial to the ‘international sailor’ is already in place in Ebrington Square ahead of an official unveiling on Saturday.
The statue was commissioned by the local Royal Naval Association (RNA) and will be a highlight of the Battle of the Atlantic commemorations at the weekend.
The RNA this year marks the 70th anniversary of the ‘turning of the tide’ when U-boats were withdrawn from the North Atlantic. Page 8.
