Chief Inspector Jon Burrows, Foyle Area Commander said: “I would appeal to parents to make sure they know where their children are and what they are doing.

Parents need to talk to children about the possible consequences if they are found committing any offence as it could result in them having a life impacting criminal record.

“Anyone witnessing incidents of criminal damage should report it to police immediately at Strand Road on 0845 600 8000. Information can also be passed anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”

Last week the attacks on the historic hall were roundly condemned by local political representatives and community workers from right across the city.
