Tributes paid tothe late Mickey McGuinness

Foyle MP Mark Durkan expressed deep sadness at the death of Mr McGuinness, a familiar face to anyone who attended local cultural events in Londonderry over the years.

Mr Durkan said: “Mickey McGuinness was a man of constant cheer with a heart as warm as his smile.

“He was a really proud Derry man with a profound love for the city, its history, hinterland and culture.

“His enthusiasm was inspirational and his interpretation of events or issues was always engaging.

“The passing of such an endearing personality will be felt right across the community as so many will mourn the loss of a man who epitomised friendship in all that he did and how he did it.”
