Two city healthhubs reviewed

HEALTH Minister Edwin Poots says two ‘hub and spoke’ health centres in the Waterside and Cityside are currently being considerd by the Health and Social Care Board (HSCB).

Before Christmas he said the two hubs would not be in place for another decade unless private backers came in to build them.

Now he has stated: “As previously indicated, the HSCB consultation document on ‘Transforming Your Care: Vision to Action’ included an illustrative model of ‘hub and spoke’ Health and Care Centres, which included Waterside and Cityside.

“The HSCB is currently analysing all of the consultation responses for Transforming Your Care: Vision to Action and will report to my Department shortly on the findings of this consultation.” Mr Poots said he would review the HSCB’s consultation report and then make an announcement on the way forward.

“The Health Infrastructure Board is continuing to explore alternative funding models to support this programme of work.

“Future developments in this area will be dependent on the outcome of both this work and the TYC consultation process and will be subject to the normal business case approval process,” he said.
