US volunteers clean-up in Waterside

TWENTY-ONE volunteers from the United States have helped with a clean-up at the Waterside Hospital, Gransha, in a partnership between the Cornerstone City Church and Convoy of Hope Europe.

The volunteers spent their mornings in the gardens of the Waterside Hospital and the afternoons involved activities with the wider Londonderry communities in schools and centres.

Anne Love, Western Trust Volunteer Manager said: “I am delighted that the volunteers from Illinois wish to be part of the clean-up project at Waterside Hospital.

“Their time and commitment to this project is appreciated and the difference made to the garden areas will be enjoyed by patients and visitors alike. The Trust has a very positive relationship with the Cornerstone Church in Derry-Londonderry and this is just one of many initiatives that the Western Trust is involved with.”

Robert Suarez, Intern Director and Altnagelvin Choir member said: “Cornerstone Church really values the services the staff provides at the Waterside Hospital and we are delighted to be part of the volunteer projects taking place in the Western Trust and around Derry city.”
