WELB appoints SFCllr to board

OMAGH Sinn Féin councillor Glenn Campbell has been newly-appointed to the board of the Western Education and Library Board (WELB).

Chief Executive Barry Mulholland said: “I am very pleased to welcome Councillor Campbell to the Board. His expertise in corporate governance and knowledge and experience of the education service gained through his work as a councillor, lecturer and school governor will contribute a great deal to the skills base of Board members at the Western Board.”

Mr Campbell is currently a Lecturer at the South West College in Omagh and has been a Councillor on Omagh District Council since May 2011.

He serves on the Board of Governors for both St Lawrence’s Primary School in Fintona and St Patrick’s Primary School in Eskra. He is a Director of Fintona Regeneration Initiative Ltd; a member of the Board of Omagh Sports Forum; a member of the Omagh Surestart Management and Strategic Committee and a member of the Eírí Na Gréine Management Committee in Omagh.

Mr Campbell, said: “Young people need solid foundations to develop emotionally, socially and intellectually; the WELB plays a vital role in supporting schools, youth clubs, teaching professionals and other staff members who ensure young people have equal access to high quality education and are provided with a solid foundation upon which to build.”
