Ulster Hall medals for young Highland dancers

MONTHS of endeavour and practice reaped rewards for the recently formed Cairncastle Highland Dancers when they competed in the Ulster Hall Highland Dance Festival.

In competition with dancers from Scotland, tutor Laura Davidson’s youngsters won a haul of 11 medals. First-time competitor Robyn gained two fifth places.

Another member, Kate, won Craigyhill Presbyterian GB’s talent night award for her Highland dancing.

The Cairncastle classes, sponsored by the Ulster Scots Agency and Larne Borough Council, are now full but anyone wishing to enrol for September can do so by ringing 07944 360112. Complete beginners are very welcome.

Meanwhile, the Cairncastle troupe are doubly safe following the delivery of two portable first aid kits, courtesy of Premier Power.

Tutor Laura, a qualified nurse, is delighted as she recognises the importance of treating sports-related injuries.

“Any slight injuries that occur benefit immensely from being treated on the spot, leading to a much shorter recovery period,” she explained.
