Ulster Scots history talk at arts centre

The history of Ulster Scots culture and language will be the topic for discussion at Larne Museum and Arts Centre later this month.

Local historian and broadcaster Dr. David Hume will be examining the history of Ulster Scots connections dating back to ancient and medieval times.

Ulster Scots connections of the 17th century Plantation period will also be detailed as a more recent development in Irish history.

The speaker will also be exploring the history of the Ulster Scots tongue, using some of the poetry of James Orr as examples.

“An introduction to Ulster Scots” will be the title of his talk, which is taking place at Larne Museum and Arts Centre on Thursday, June 29 at 7.30pm.
