Under review

WATER and sewerage works in Dungiven and Benone are under review by Northern Ireland Water (NIW) with the company unable to provide final details of its plans after a determination by the Northern Ireland Authority for Utility Regulation (NIAUR).

Regional Development Minister was asked to outline details of any plans for water and sewerage services in East Londonderry in 2010/11.

But he said he was advised by NIW that ongoing works at Dungiven and Ballymonie and new projects at Benone and Coleraine - part of a total value of 4.5m - are under review.

“I have been advised by Northern Ireland Water that it is currently reviewing its capital investment plans following the final determination of its business plan proposals for the three years ending 31 March 2013 by the Northern Ireland Authority for Utility Regulation,” Mr Murphy stated.

“It is therefore not in a position at this time to provide final details of plans for water and sewerage projects in the East Londonderry constituency, but an investment of around 4.5 million is anticipated during 2010/11,” he continued.

“This investment will include the continuation of projects such as Dungiven Wastewater Treatment Works and Ballymonie Wastewater Treatment Works and the commencement of new projects such as Benone Area Sewerage and Coleraine Drainage Area Plan Phase 1,” said the Minister.
