Undertones and Frightened Rabbit to rock Ballymully Cottage

The full musical line-up for this year’s music and arts extravaganza at Ballymully Cottage Farm on August 8 and 9 was announced on Monday (May 26).

Frightened Rabbit are a Glaswegian four piece who fuse indie rock and folk into a trademark sound that has garnered much critical acclaim and led to their latest Album, ‘Pedestrian Verse’ breaking into the top ten in the UK Album Charts in 2013.

Their ability to produce stunning live shows combined with a fervent fan base has allowed them to make recent giant strides into the hearts and minds of music lovers right across the UK and even further afield.

Their connection with an audience in a live setting must be seen to be appreciated and with stunning compositions such as ‘Swim until you can’t see land’, ‘The Woodpile’ and ‘The Loneliness and the Scream.’

Frightened Rabbit’s headline set on Friday August 8 will surely be talked about for years to come by fans of the band and the new ones they will no doubt make at Stendhal.

The Undertones need no introduction. One of the finest bands to ever come out of Ireland, with an energetic live show consisting of massive hits known and loved worldwide, they have only gotten better with time and will produce a magical evening at Stendhal.

‘Teenage kicks’, ‘My Perfect Cousin’, ‘Here Comes the Summer’, ‘Jimmy Jimmy’, the list goes on and on, and everyone at Stendhal is delighted to be welcoming genuine local legends to the Stendhal stage on Saturday, August 9.

In addition there will be performances from Paddy Casey, Bronagh Gallagher, Duke Special (Gramophone Club special) and Tucan amongst others, which will ensure another amazing event for music lovers across the country.

As always the local Northern Irish music scene is currently blessed with some magnificent talent and Stendhal is also delighted to announce that the following acts will be taking to the stage over the weekend this year; The Emerald Armada, Making Monsters, Ports (formerly Little Bear), Go Wolf, The Clameens, Paddy Nash and The Happy Enchiladas, Malojian, Ciaran Lavery, In An Instant, Bakken, Exit Pursued By Bear, Ryan McMullan, The Bobbie Harvey Band, Pitcher of the Moon, Glenn Rosborough, The Wood Burning Savages, August, Dramatic Tiger Club, Limavady Big Band, Troublesome Bucks, Paul Tully, Boxcutter, Los Dramáticos, Ard Ri, Teknopeasant and Silences.

We will also be welcoming talent from across the UK and Ireland to Stendhal this year with English folk outfit Edwin Brooks and The Burning Glass making a welcome return, Donegal based SlowPlaceLikeHome making his Stendhal debut along with fellow Donegal natives The Henry Girls, The Inishowen Gospel Choir and Sligo Bluegrass six-piece, Rackhouse Pilfer.

We are also delighted to welcome back The Plantin, a fantastic ensemble of musicians comprised of students of Foyle View Special needs school and of course the hip-hop portion of the festival will be looked after once again by the brilliant Antidote Sound System.

Stendhal organiser Ross Parkhill said he is delighted with how this year’s line-up is shaping up so far.

“I am absolutely thrilled at being able to announce some of the names that we have done today,” he said.

“Frightened Rabbit are a band we have been following for some time now and are incredibly excited to have them on the bill this year. They are a band that have an already stellar back catalogue of songs and have the potential to be one of the biggest things in British Music; they are that good.”

He added: “There is nothing I can really say about the Undertones that hasn’t been said before. They are true musical royalty in our part of the world and to have an act of their calibre coming along to play Stendhal is a delight for us.

“Add to that the talents of Paddy Casey, Bronagh Gallagher, Tucan and everyone else we have announced so far and this year’s line-up is shaping up to be perhaps the best one we have had at Stendhal.”
