Unemployment on the up again!

Figures released by the Labour Market show that the number of jobless in the Ballymoney Borough Council area in June has risen by 5.8% since this time last year - 53 more people unemployed.

The latest statistics show that there are currently 968 people out of work in the area - that’s 707 men and 261 women.

The unemployment figures for June were similar to those in May, increasing by just one person (0.1%).

Meanwhile in Moyle jobless figures also rose in June by 7.7% (43 people).

The statistics show that there are currently 603 people out of work in the area - that’s 439 men and 164 women.

The unemployment figures for June were again similar to those in May, decreasing by six person (1.0%).

* There were 61 redundancies in Ballymoney during the year to June 30 2011, with non in Moyle.
