Uni of Third Age meeting

The University of the Third Age has set its sights on establishing a group in the Banbridge area.

To that end it is to hold a public launch meeting in Banbridge’s Old Town Hall on Monday 24 August at 2.30pm.

Widely known as U3A, the university is a charitable organisation for retired and semi-retired people who want to keep mentally and physically fit.

Members meet together in groups on a weekly or monthly basis to pursue a wide range of interests, such as walking, book groups, learning a language, bridge and crafts.

“The possibilities are endless,” said U3A Regional Volunteer Mavis Turner.

“If you are looking for a new interest, a chance to meet others who share the same interests as you, and keep active, then you will enjoy the University of the Third Age.

“All U3As draw upon the knowledge, experience and skills of its members to organise and provide interest groups at minimal costs to members.”
