A spokesperson said, "As always the main focus of the evening will be a solemn Act of Remembrance, thinking especially of all those from our own land, who gave their all so we may enjoy the freedoms so many of us take for granted.

"The casualties suffered by the Ulster Division at the Battle of the Somme touched so many families in our province with grief and pain, as it did throughout the rest of the United Kingdom.

"We remember the sacrifice so many have made in the years of the Great War, the Second World War and other conflicts; we salute the gallant men and women who have been serving our country in Iraq and Afghanistan.

"In our own province we remember those in the security forces who have lost their lives, or suffered injury, over these past years; we honour them all.
