UNISON meet with Garvagh Care Home staff

Brian Ferguson Regional Organiser of Unison has said that the news that the Garvagh Care Home is to close is '˜even more traumatic given that there was a potential buyer and residents believed their home was secure'.

UNISON has met with staff who are devastated with the prospect of redundancy as there is no likely redeployment.

UNISON is currently in negotiations with the company and will enter into negotiations with the Northern Health Trust and the Health and Social Care Board in an attempt to the keep this Care Home from closing.

UNISON is calling on the Northern Health Trust for immediate intervention to protect the rights of the residents, and the jobs of the Four Seasons Care Staff in Garvagh.

We are also calling on the Health and Social Care Board to work with UNISON to plan for the future of all Nursing Homes.
