Unity gets frosty reception

SUGGESTIONS of unionist unity have been given a frosty reception from the TUV.

Responding to comments in last week’s 'MAIL', TUV spokesman David Vance said: “Unionist voters in Upper Bann are now being presented with the notion that the DUP and UUP will 'unite' to save unionism.

"I am looking forward to see if this means David Simpson will therefore step aside to allow Harry Hamilton the opportunity to win this seat, or is the form of unity on offer as superficial as simply trying to save endangered political necks?

"The DUP have stolen many of the UUP’s clothes so perhaps these two pro-Agreement pro-terror inclusive government parties should get together and leave unionists with the clear choice of voicing their opposition to Martin McGuinness, Caitriona Ruane and the entire wretched Assembly by voting TUV?"

He went on: "I warn unionist voters to beware the siren calls for unity from those local politicians who seek to unite with Irish republicans and prop up a miserable dysfunctional Assembly that does not and cannot work. We need change and TUV will bring it in Upper Bann and elsewhere."
