Thanking the PCSP chairs for their help over three and half years, he said: “Much work has been done over the years by police and others to ‘Keep People Safe’.  It was Sir Ronnie Flanagan who said, ‘Policing was much too important and impactive to be left to the police alone’. Effective partnerships undertaken by the groups showcased this evening lifted the ‘Policing with the Community Strategy’ from a document and made it a living breathing reality.

“I am honoured to be here this evening to personally recognise the unsung heroes within our community who through their efforts have contributed over the years to significant reductions in anti-social behaviour, criminal damage, burglary and vehicle crime.”

Recognising the work done in the area of domestic abuse, Mr Reid noted: “Increased reporting (offence 217 (+37)) and the outcome rates (34% (+11%)) illustrated an increase in confidence in policing and wider criminal justice system.”
