Update: Donaghmore woman killed on holiday in Bulgaria

The Donaghmore community has been devastated with the tragic death of mother of four, Mrs Rosaleen Donaghy.

Rosaleen, a well known child minder, died after she was the victim of a hit and run accident while out on holiday

in Bulgaria.

Her husband Brian was also injured in the accident which is believed to have taken place on Friday. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Family members travelled to Bulgaria to comfort

Rosaleen was a native of Galbally and had worked in the Lollipop Playgroup in Donaghmore for some years.

A Donaghmore resident summed up the feelings of the entire community.

“Rosaleen was a real sweetheart and a lady. “The village is in shock. It is so hard to believe,

Just devastating.”

Sinn Fein Councillor Sean McGuigan paid tribute to the deceased. “Rosaleen was a good woman who spent most of her life looking after children.

“Her death and the injury to her husband has come as a real shock.

Fellow Councillor Michael Gillespie spoke of the sadness in Rosaleen’s homeland of Galbally.

The entire community is in a state of shock. Rosaleen was very well respected and our sympathy goes out to the Gervin and Donaghy families at this very difficult time. It is a terrible tragedy.”

The circumstances of what happened are being investigated by police in Bulgaria.

The Foreign Office said: “We are aware of a traffic accident in Bulgaria involving two British nationals. We are providing

consular assistance.”

Rosaleen was the mother of Dermot; Danielle; Ashlean and Dominic.
