Update: Four people from Mid Ulster killed on roads in devastating weekend

The number of people from Mid Ulster killed in road accidents over the weekend has risen to four.

As well, as the two women Jayne Burnside [23] and Bernie McNicholl who was in her fifties, it has emerged that the crash victim in Strabane was Sean McElwee from Cookstown, while a lorry driver killed on the M1 near Drogheda was Richard Patterson originally from Stewartstown.

A man has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving after Sean McElwee was killed.

He died after a car and a lorry were involved in a collision on the Melmount Road near Strabane at around 10pm on Saturday.

Richard Patterson was killed on the southbound lane of the M1 near Drogheda on Thursday, when his lorry overturned in a crash with a van.

He had been living in Castlerock in Co Derry.
