Update: Tweed guilty on 13 child sex abuse charges

BALLYMENA councillor David Tweed has been found guilty of thirteen child sex abuse charges.

Tweed, a former Irish international rugby player, faced a total of 14 charges relating to two girls, over an eight-year period.

He has been convicted of ten indecent assault charges and three charges of gross indecency.

On Wednesday afternoon, a jury of ten women and two men found Tweed guilty on ten of the charges before being further found guilty on three more charges shortly after.

On Tuesday, Tweed was cleared by the jury of one count of indecent assault.

He was remanded in custody and sentencing will take place in the new year.
