Upgrade vital at Dunfane Playing Fields - Council told

Sinn Féin MLA Daithí McKay has welcomed the commitment of Mid and East Antrim Council to undertake improvements to the changing rooms at Dunfane.

Speaking after attending a site meeting with local Cllr Paul Maguire, community representatives and council officials, Mr McKay said: “This green area requires a lot of improvements but it clearly has a lot of potential.

“We had a very constructive meeting with council officials today who have agreed to look at improvements to the changing facilities located here.

“We also raised the state of the pitch and the need to do more to deter the use of motorbikes on the green and dog-fouling.

“There is a lot of work that needs to be carried out here. Today however is a good start and I’d like to thank council officials for what has been quite a positive engagement.”

Cllr Paul Maguire added: “There clearly is not enough adequate pitch provision at this side of the town so one of my priorities at council will be to ensure that new playing provision in provided by the council and existing facilities are brought up to standard.

“Dunfane clearly needs to be a priority for the council.”
