Urban village plan to create 355 new homes

Plans for a massive new urban village in the middle of Craigavon creating more than 350 new homes have been submitted to Council.

The planning application is for 355 homes, including 87 detached and 268 semi-detached houses .

It is to be known as Carnreagh Village and is expected to cost at least £35m to create.

Stephen Blayney of Coogan and Co Architects said it would also include employing a ‘substantial’ workforce.

The firm behind the application is Windsor Developments Ltd.

The new village is to be created on land close to Lidl on vacant fields west of Carnreagh and Mandeville Manor and including land at Drumnagoon Road.

This is close to the Northway at Lidl and the new cinema.

The plans include landscaping and car parking.

Also in the pipeline is a ‘linear park’ interweaving the road network providing a pedestrian pathway for locals and runners etc.

Incorporated into the design is thought for disabled access and children’s safety.

Roads are designed to reduce speed and allow people to walk, relax and play in the streets.

The architects are Coogan and Co, Belfast.

The application was received by Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Council on April 2 and documents have been submitted to NI Transport - Craigavon Office, the NI Environment Agency, the Environmental Health department of ABC Council and NI Water.
