Urgent support needed for crime victims

The Victim Support charity in Coleraine has made an urgent appeal for volunteers.

An information session will take place at the Causeway Coast Volunteer Centre on December 16, from 4.00pm until 6.00pm.

The organisation, which helps victims of crime in communities and courts throughout Northern Ireland, said more volunteers are desperately needed to deliver crucial community support services at its outreach centre in Coleraine.

Victim Support NI volunteer manager, Jolena Flett, said: “Victim Support NI is volunteer focused and driven. We simply wouldn’t be able to help victims of crime without the dedication, expertise and professionalism of our terrific volunteers.

“Volunteering can involve helping people in court or in the community, providing emotional support and practical assistance to victims of crime, form filling and giving people the confidence to make their voices heard.

“We offer first class accredited training and development opportunities for volunteers equipping them with knowledge and skills to deliver a first class support service to victims. As well as being a great experience, it’s also a fantastic way to work as part of a caring and compassionate team while helping people in your local area.”
