Use your words carefully

PSALM 139 verse 14 says "I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made."

If you look at your body it is so intricately made. A place for everything and everything in its place.

Amazingly, one of the most powerful tools God gave us is the tongue. He didn't entrust words to animals, He entrusted words to us.

Our words also have great potential. They can create a smile on a child's face, lighten the heart of a someone with burdens, encourage other Christians, and tell the gospel of Jesus Christ to a sad and weary world.

Politicians would be lost without words, as would husbands and wives, to name just a few! And there is nothing more precious than the first words of your child.

Words are one of the most powerful forces in the universe and God has entrusted them to you and me.

We need to be careful how we use them. They can hurt or heal, they can build up or knock down. They can bring encouragement or discouragement.

For this week pay particular attention to how you speak and interact. We are wonderfully made with a free will to do as we please.

There is a saying “Lord make my words sweet, as I may need to eat them tomorrow.” It’s worth filing that in your memory bank – that other incredible part of our body.

The question is, how will we use this incredible gift from God? Will we use them to bring life or death? Encouragement or discouragement? Today, let's pay particular attention to the words we speak.
