UU conference

A PASSION Conference - ‘returning passion, purpose and priority to the church’ - will be held in the University of Ulster, Coleraine ,on Saturday November 3 from 10.30am-5.30pm.

You can register from 9.30am and there are free children’s activities for those aged between 4-11 and a creche will be available.

The price is £16 per person including snack lunch, refreshments and conference material.

The speakers include Tony Anthony, an award winning author, internationally recognised speaker and founding Director of Avanti Ministries.

Car boot sale

ON Saturday, October 27th in the Parish Centre car park, Queen Street Ballymoney there will be a car boot sale in aid of raising Parish funds.

Setting up begins at 8am and the admission of cars and vans costs £5.

NEW calendars are now available from Billy parish church at a cost of £5.

Black bio pens are also available at £1.

Meanwhile, parishioners are encouraged to fill in shoe boxes which will be sent to Eastern Europe for Christmas.

Wrapped boxes should be returned by Sunday, October 28.

Armoy WI

October was time for AGM and Katy McCurdy was re-elected as Armoy Women’s Institute President. Ruth Orr was the Chairperson and congratulated the Institute on the past year and encouraged them to continue with their enthusiastic involvement in a wide variety of activities.

Maureen Adams and Betty Lindsay were the tellers for the voting. A sad note to the evening was the announcement of the passing of Founder member Isabella Smyth and the ladies stood for a minute of silent remembrance . Angela McClure was welcomed as a new member and Beverly Simpson was voted as the most esteemed member and awarded the Anne Logan Salver.

Other Institute awards were made: Helen McVicker- Florence Gillan Trophy for craft, Nancy Orr -Avis Coleman Cup for monthly competition, Libby McIlhatton -Kathleen Neill Cup for baking at Ballymoney Show and Lorna McClure - WI Golden Jubilee Salver for craft competition. Hazel Wasson had been successful again in Baking at Tullaghore Show.

The Institute continue to meet on the first Monday of every month and new members would be made very welcome.
