UUP councillor appointed President of association

UUP Foyle Councillor Mary Hamilton has been appointed as President of the Ulster Unionist Councillors' Association at the groups recent AGM.

Taking over from Councillor Liz Johnston, who sadly passed away last year, Mary will take up the post immediately.

Commenting on her appointment Mary said: "It is with mixed feelings that I take up the post of President. I am obviously delighted to represent the Party and feel honoured to be nominated for the position but additionally feel the loss of a close friend and colleague Liz Johnston who held the post for many years.

"I am extremely proud of the Ulster Unionist Party, what we have achieved, what we stand for and how we continue to serve the people of Northern Ireland. That is something I will continue to do on my own council in Foyle and right across Northern Ireland."
