The event was held in the Beech Hill House Hotel outside Londonderry and was jointly hosted by Julia Kee and the party’s MEP Jim Nicholson.

Ms Kee said: “The event provided a valuable opportunity for a range of sectors to engage with Ulster Unionist representatives from Brussels, London, Stormont and local government.

“Among those who attended were the Jim Nicholson MEP, Fermanagh & South Tyrone MP Tom Elliott, the Party’s Leader in the Lords Lord Empey, Assembly Members Roy Beggs and Adrian Cochrane-Watson, Chair of the Ulster Unionist Councillors’ Association Trevor Wilson, and Londonderry Councillor Mary Hamilton.

“The event was intended to provide an opportunity for attendees to inform politicians of the challenges they face and to ensure their voices can be heard in Stormont, Westminster and Europe

“It was a great success and we hope to organise another event in February to follow up on issues raised and how we have attempted to address these.”

Jim Nicholson MEP said: “It was a pleasure to attend Thursday night’s event in Londonderry and to hear at first-hand about the issues which are affecting the daily lives of people on the ground. I believe it is vital that politicians at all levels take the time to meet and consult with the public and it was heartening to see so many Ulster Unionist representatives present and actively engaging with a wide range of groups and individuals. “As politicians our role is to work to improve the lives of the people of Northern Ireland and to deliver positive change on the ground. Events such as this which allow us to engage on the topics of health, agriculture, the economy, justice and culture, help to keep us informed of the issues that affect our constituents on a day-to-day basis. I am looking forward to the follow up event at the beginning of 2016.”
