UUP volunteers clean up communities

Local members of the Ulster Unionist Party have been '˜getting their hands dirty' recently in a bid to improve the communities of Glebeside, Carnany, Ballymoney town centre, Riverside Park, Ballymoney Trim Trail and Balnamore.

The volunteers carried out litter lifts and weeding, Ballymoney UUP councillor Darryl Wilson said: “Over the last number of months the recently formed “UUP Community Team” have been taking part in various tasks in the Ballymoney area and across the Borough.

“Quite often we are contacted by constituents and community groups highlighting the need for litter lifting, weeding and path clearing to be done in specific areas. While we strive and lobby to see greater efficiency within our government to ensure that these tasks are carried out by the relevant statutory bodies, in the interim we have decided to take up the slack and carry out some jobs ourselves.

“I decided to ask local party members and activists if they would be willing to take part in various tasks during the summer months which would have a positive impact on our local communities, thankfully I received unanimous support from my friends and colleagues.

“I can forsee this project stretching far beyond the summer months,” he concluded.
