Valuable items stolen from cemetery

Police are investigating a burglary at Carnmoney Cemetery during which thieves stole a number of valuable pieces of machinery.

The burglary, at the cemetery extension construction site on O’Neill Road, is thought to have occurred sometime between Friday, October 10 and Monday, October 13.

Investigating officer, Constable William Dynes, appealed to the public for help catching those responsible.

Police received a report that a number of items had been taken from a storage container on the site sometime over the weekend,” he explained.

“The items included a large green coloured generator, a blue power washer and a yellow whacker plate. These are valuable items and I would appeal to anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in or around the site over the weekend of Friday 10 October to contact officers in Newtownabbey on 101.”
