Value of historic sites reconsidered

THE Northern Ireland Environment Agency has confirmed that three local historic buildings still qualify for 'listed' status.

NIEA officials recently wrote to Newtownabbey Borough Council advising that the heritage value of the Stephenson Mausoleum at Kilbride Cemetery; Fernville, 57 Old Manse Road, Jordanstown and Patterson’s Spade Mill had been reconsidered.

The Department has concluded that these historic buildings remain of sufficient interest for protection as listed buildings,” councillors were informed.
