Van was towing go-kart

The driver of a van towing a go-kart in the B&Q car park in Craigavon was not covered by insurance, the local court heard last Wednesday.

Ciaran Ryan (23), Larkfield Meadows, Craigavon, was fined £200 and given six points for not having insurance on November 20 last year.

The court heard that at 8.45pm staff at B&Q reported to police that in the car park a go-kart was being pulled by a van.

Ryan got out of the driver’s seat of the van and it was discovered he was not named on the policy of insurance of the vehicle which was owned by his brother-in-law.

A barrister representing the defendant said there had been a significant gap in his offending and this was a one-off incident.
