Vandalism at Community Centre

VANDALISM at the Tilly Molloy complex in Armoy is costing the Community Association and Moyle District Council hundreds of pounds.

Last Wednesday, the Association was forced to hire a Cherry Picker to replace broken slates after they were damaged by objects thrown on to the roof.

The toilet block at the premises, which was erected by Moyle Council, has also been vandalised causing water to seep into the main building.

A spokesperson for the Association called on those responsible to bear in mind that the facility was for the benefit of the community and any damage caused was only adding to the general cost of running the premises.

“We would encourage everyone to take ownership of the building. It is there to be used and enjoyed. Vandalism such as this can only lead to extra costs being imposed,” the spokesperson added.

It is understood that police are monitoring the situation.
