Vehicle seized andthree arrests

A vehicle was seized by police in Carrick at the weekend.

Officers are investigating a car theft and offences of driving without a licence or insurance.

Three motorists were arrested in the Carrick area for driving with excess alcohol.

The PSNI has warned that a number of vehicle checkpoints would be in operation after new legislation allows officers to carry out random breath tests. Previously, police needed a reasonable suspicion about the manner of someone’s driving, witnessed a traffic offence or called to a collision.

A PSNI spokesman warned that police will be conducting a number of pre-planned vehicle checkpoints.
