Vehicle seized as part of joint operation

Police and council enforcement officers seized a vehicle in Carrickfergus yesterday as part of joint traffic operation.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “Unregistered, untaxed and abandoned vehicles cause no end of hassle and concern to local residents trying to go about their daily lives.

“From time to time, police don’t have powers to seize them, so enforcement officers from Mid and East Antrim Borough Council attended Carrickfergus in order to lift one such vehicle. There is ongoing enforcement in the area and a few notices have been left on other vehicles that caused concern.

“Thankfully most drivers take the responsible option of not only insuring their car but also making sure there is valid MOT and tax paid, unless exempt.”
