Vehicles seized for no insurance

POLOICE in Ballymoney sezied a Renault Clio car after they discovered it was uninsured.

The incident was highlighted this week by Inspector David Anderson as a reminder to motorists who break the law that their vehicle can be taken away from them under new powers granted to the PSNI.

The vehicle was seized in the Carnany area on Monday of last week.

And on Saturday last, a Land Rover was seized on the Bann Road, Rasharkin.

Inspector Anderson commented: “The owners have to pay to get their vehicle back out of recovery and then produced proof of insurance before driving away.

“There is also the likelihood of people being prosecuted for not having insurance in the first place.”
