Veteran sportsman to be honoured by Magherafelt Council
WELL known sportsman and business entrepreneur Patsy Forbes is to be given a civic reception by Magherafelt District Council in recognition of his achievements as a veteran athlete.
Patsy, who was one of the London Olympic torchbearers, is still active in athletics picking up medals at international meets.
SDLP Councillor Jim Campbell proposed the move at the monthly meeting of the council.
He described Patsy as “remarkable.”
Meanwhile, members also agreed on the proposal of Sinn Fein Councillor Brian McGuigan to hold a civic reception for Bancran Tug of War team who recently won silver at the European Championships.
