Veterinary medicines stolen in burglary

Detectives are investigating the burglary of a veterinary surgery on the Townhill Rd, Portglenone into the early hours of the morning, Friday, November 13.

They are also warning people of the risks associated with the misuse of a brand of cattle worming product taken.

The product is harmful if misused, potentially causing blindness in humans.

Chief Inspector Stephen McCauley said: “A range of veterinary medicines were stolen during the break in last night.

“We are appealing to the public for information in relation to the burglary but also warning of the dangers of these products.”

It is understood that three people are thought to have been involved in the burglary, which occurred sometime around 3am.

Chief Insp. McCauley added: “While one of the products is particularly harmful, they are all potentially dangerous in the wrong hands.

“I would urge anyone who is in possession of these medicines to arrange for safe disposal with a local vet.

“I would also ask that anyone who has been offered veterinary medicine for sale in suspicious circumstances to contact us on the non-emergency number 101. Or, you can contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
