Veterinary surgeon to receive an MBE
Veterinary surgeon Eddie Campbell is among seven business people and volunteers in Londonderry to receive an MBE in the New Year Honours List. (See Page 3)
Mr Campbell came to Northern Ireland from Scotland as a newly qualified vet in 1960 and within a month of arriving here met his wife-to-be after turning out to treat a cow which had choked on a potato. and has spent the last 54 years dispensing care and wisdom to his feathered and four-legged patients and their owners.
Commenting on his ‘gong’ he said: “I am really grateful. I was not looking for any recognition. To save a life or make people feel a bit more secure is enough. I am over the moon.”
