Victim was daughter of creamery crash couple

TRIBUTES have been paid to a Ballyroney woman who died in a car accident at the weekend.

Angela McGarey (45) died in hospital on Sunday - a day after she was injured in the crash on the Seagoe Road in Portadown.

It is understood Mrs McGarey, formerly Crozier, had just moved back to the area in the past week after around 20 years living in England and Scotland. It is believed the couple had decided to make Rathfriland their new home. Mrs McGarey’s husband Paul is said to be distraught following the crash.

This is the second tragedy to hit the Crozier family following the death of Mrs McGarey’s parents some years ago. The couple were killed in a tragic crash outside Armaghdown Creamery in Banbridge.

Knockiveagh councillor Liz Ingram knew Angela as a young girl before she moved away from the area and said people were shocked and saddened to hear of her death.

“These are very sad and tragic circumstances in which this awful death has occurred,” said Mrs Ingram. “I would like to extend my deepest sympathies to Angela’s family and husband.

“And for this to hit the same family which has already endured the trauma of the dreadful deaths of Angela’s parents Mr and Mrs Crozier is just awful.

“It is particularly tragic that Angela had only just returned home to fulfill a dream of making her life here with her husband where she grew up.”

At the time of going to print Rev Philip McCullough of Ballyroney Presbyterian Church said no funeral details would be available until after the release of Mrs McGarey’s body.
