Victorious Victoria beats odds and raises a bundle for charity

A PUPIL of Kinallen’s Fair Hill Primary School has beaten the odds to lift the top prize at a showjumping competition, raising hundreds of pounds of charity cash into the bargain.

P6 pupil Victoria Boville was herself surprised, but thrilled, by her winning performance against stiff competition in the recent fundraising event at Aghalee’s Portmore Equestrian Centre.

Fair Hill itself, meanwhile, also landed first place in the schools’ competition.

Praised for having “defied the odds” by winning first prize, Victoria said of her success, “I didn’t expect to be placed, as there were so many competitors; my chances were very slim.”

About 12 other schools took part in the event, with many more individuals competing to raise money for the Make a Wish charity and its efforts to make the dreams of terminally ill children become a reality.

Delighted to have been able to make its own contribution, Fair Hill applauded its equestrian team, not least Victoria, who alone raised £248 for the charity.

“It’s a very worthy cause,” said Fair Hill Primary School’s Mrs. Wylie, “and we are proud of the equestrian team from Fair Hill, including Victoria, for representing our school so well.”
