Video: Elaborate hoax sparks Magherafelt security alert

It is understood the object was found in a ditch at the junction of Tobermore Road with Hospital Road earlier this morning, causing disruption to motorists.

“ATO have finished at the scene and the object has been declared an elaborate hoax,” said a PSNI spokesperson.

Detectives are keen to hear from anyone who saw suspicious activity in the Tobermore Road area of the town prior to the discovery of a suspicious object on Thursday shortly before 9.30am.
