Kelly Deignan organised the event in aid of four-year-old Danielle, a Primary One pupil at Roddensvale School in Larne.

The disco and auction next Friday aims to raise funds for the purchase of an airway clearance vest system.

The equipment has in the past aided Danielle, who has cerebral palsy, to breathe by clearing her airways.

The machine is most commonly used to treat those suffering from cystic fibrosis.

“Because she not able to walk or move about, Danielle’s airways get congested very easily. We saw this piece of equipment on a TV programme about the Children’s Hospice, but because there isn’t enough evidence to suggest it could help children like Danielle, it isn’t available through the health trust,” explained Kelly. “We’re hoping to raise about £8000 to buy the machine ourselves.”

The fundraiser will take place at the Clarion Hotel next Friday evening from 8pm and will feature a disco, raffle, and entertainment from tribute artists Alecia Karr and Kris Taylor.
